PROJECTS
Knife Block
My daughter wanted a knife block and her boyfriend commissioned me to make one for her. It is finished with elm wood that is from a limb that fell on my wife's studio during a storm last winter.
Custom Nesting Dolls
Went to St. Petersburg Russia and had to buy a nesting Doll. Saw many dolls with celebrities. I decided to buy an inexpensive 5 layer Doll. I sanded and repainted. Judy has a decal program and made one each for me, Judy, Kara, Ruby(dog) and the 2 cats.
Redwood Table
My daughter needed a table for work. 30"h with 12" x 12" top. Made it from 1 redwood 2x6x8'. Milled the needed sizes and you can see what was left over at the end.
Jeweler's Bench
Retractable Wheels for Table Saw
Retractable Wheels for Stump/Anvil
Retractable Wheels for Work Table
Solder Station

Stove Topper for Trailer
Our friends Kirk & Julie have a new travel trailer. Their cooking workspace was limited and the stovetop took up a large portion of that space. Kirk wanted something to put over it. I made a simple frame and laminated some 1x2 pine boards together to make a butcher block top. Sanded it down and coated with mineral oil and inserted it into the frame. Drilled a couple of holes for ventilation and a finger grip.
Magnet Spinner Display
The Co-Op is in the tourist town of Bodega, California. The people who come to visit our beautiful coast sometimes want an inexpensive souvenir.
I made this spinner display from a three piece room divider and 12 cookie sheets from the dollar store. Total cost about $20

Display Case Top from Coffee Table
Old Display case at the Artisan Co-Op in Bodega. Unusable glass on the front. Formica top. Judy found a coffee table at St Vincent's for $10. I took it apart and cut it to size and trimmed it out. Took the glass off the front of the old case. Made a shelf unit that gave one side useful work space for person working the store and the other side is now open for display. The side with the glass top had a stair step shelf in it and is now open in the front and visible from the top.
Face Through Board - Tippy Hedren - The Birds - Bodega Artisan Co-Op
Needed a fun thing for Artisans' Co-Op Day in Bodega. Judy came up with the idea. We found a free service online that makes PDF posters as big as you want, using 8 1/2 x 11 sheets that you print out on your printer and paste together. This took 33 sheets and 2 print cartridges. I build the frame from 3/16 plywood and 1x2s. The legs come off and store in the back of the frame. It was a big hit at the event.
Homemade Safe and Combination Lock
Found a plan for a combination lock. Wanted to use it somewhere, so I built a full size safe. It's pretty sturdy but If someone wanted to break in they could use a sledge hammed to bust it into pieces. It is just meant to slow someone down.
Hammer Rack
Judy's Friend Marian was at her studio and said to me that she needed a rack for her hammers. I took it as a challenge to make her a rack before she went home in 2 hours. Got some basic size info from Marian and with scraps form my shop, built this rack.
